One of the best things about life is that you are presented with opportunities to grow into the person you want to be. No matter where you are in life, you can choose to gravitate in that direction. Here are suggestions as to how you can live your best life.
ACCEPT WHO YOU ARE
Accept all of your flaws and limitations. Know your weaknesses and be okay with these. If you can embrace your weaknesses, then nobody can use those against you. Nobody is perfect and your weaknesses do not make you a lesser person. In the same manner, choose to recognize your strengths. These are the very things that come naturally to you. They are your God-given gifts. When you are working on a strength, baking, for example, you find yourself gaining joy instead of exhaustion despite the long hours spent doing that task. Learned behaviors should be celebrated, too. Whatever strength you may have, embrace yourself and be proud of who you are.
BE KIND TO YOURSELF
You should be the very first person to speak good words to your being. Fall in love with your entirety and keep on developing a good relationship with yourself.
CULTIVATE A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOURSELF AND THE LORD
No matter how accomplished you are, there will always be a gap within you that only the Lord can fill. You can love the people around you with all that you have but still feel incomplete if you do not foster a healthy relationship with yourself. Your relationship with yourself is your central template by which all others are formed. Hence, loving yourself is the start of a successful union with other people.
DO NOT COMPARE
Do not compare any aspect of your life- your spouse, kids, physical appearance, finances, the timeline of accomplishments, waistline, anything! Simply do not. Run your race and be happy for yourself because what you have is special on its own. While it is easy to focus on the wrongdoings of those around us, choose to magnify the right instead of the lapses. Be forgiving with the standards that you are setting for the people around you because these might be giving unnecessary stress. Choose your well-being over the “shoulds” and expectations of the world. At the end of the day, choose to silence your universe and listen to your core. If you listen to all the voices of standards and expectations, you will risk losing your sanity and instead become a slave of other people’s standards. You do you!
ENGAGE IN LIFE-GIVING ACTIVITIES AND PEOPLE
Choose to indulge in things that boost your positive energy and shield yourself from everything else that dampens it. Choose your circle well. Foster good relationships and let go of those that do not help with your growth. Curate your life according to what feels good and what feels right.
FOCUS ON YOUR GIFT
This brings us back to one of my initial points, acceptance. Embrace yourself and count your blessings often. When you do, don’t forget to count yourself in. You are a welcome blessing to the people around you!
